The Children’s Learning Institute partnered with the Texas Education Agency to provide free, online training that guides teachers through the child outcomes and instructional strategies presented in the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines (Revised 2015).
The training covers all ten learning domains of the revised 2015 guidelines: Social and Emotional Development • Language and Communication • Emergent Literacy, Reading • Emergent Literacy, Writing • Mathematics • Science • Social Studies • Fine Arts • Physical Development • Technology
Child outcomes and specific instructional strategies are explored through extensive video filmed in real Texas preK classrooms. Video commentary guides the viewer in what to look for. Each subdomain also links to video lessons in the CIRCLE Activity Collection that support the child skills discussed.
Teachers will be able to earn continuing professional education (CPE) credits or child care licensing clock hours for completing the training.
Child outcomes in self-concept skills, self-regulation (behavior, emotional, and attention control), relationships with others, and social awareness.
Child outcomes in listening comprehension, speaking (conversation) skills, speech production, vocabulary, sentences and structure skills.
Child outcomes in motivation to read, phonological awareness, alphabet knowledge, comprehension of text read aloud, and understanding of print concepts.
Child outcomes in motivation to write skills, understanding of writing as a process, and an understanding of conventions in writing.
Child outcomes in counting, adding to/taking away skills, geometry and spatial sense, measurement, and classification and patterns skills.
Child outcomes in physical science (e.g, motion and energy), life sciences (organisms and their environments), and earth and space science.
